Adjusting

A Life Without Sandy

Adjusting

For a while, the hardest thing I did each day was to get out of bed. Sometimes, it would take me 30 minutes to decide that I had to get up. There didn't seem to be much reason to exert all the energy that getting up required.

Max used to visit us for an afternoon every week, and those visits continued. I'm not the loquacious type, and Max didn;t have much to say, so conversations were limited, but we walked around, played, sometimes visited other people, and just hung out together. After a while, he would climb onto my lap and fall asleep. He doesn't do it much anymore, but back then my lap was softer.

The family gathered at Libby's for Thanksgiving dinner. I wasn't much in the thanksgiving or partying mood, but it was a mostly happy event.
